Cancellation & Refund Policy
Effective date: 19 October 2026
This policy explains how cancellations and refunds work for payments made on Howsit, operated by Howsit (Registered as a Micro Enterprise under Udyam). It is part of our Terms and Conditions and follows the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
1. How refunds are paid
- Payments on Howsit are processed by Razorpay (UPI, debit and credit cards, net banking and wallets).
- An approved refund to your bank, card or UPI is started within 2 business days of approval and normally reaches you within 5–7 business days, depending on your bank.
- Orders paid from your Howsit Wallet are refunded to the wallet straight away. Orders paid by UPI, card or net banking are refunded to your Howsit Wallet when the order is cancelled; if you would rather have the money back on your original payment method, write to support@howsit.in with the order number and we will send it there within the times above.
- Welcome credit and promotional credit are free and are never refunded or paid out as cash.
- If money was taken from your account but the payment failed or was charged twice, it is refunded automatically, normally within 5–7 business days. If it is not, contact us with the payment details.
2. Shop orders (buying from a shop in the app or from a Reel)
Your money is held by Howsit and reaches the shop only after you have the order.
- Cancel before the shop has it ready: full refund.
- The shop cancels: full refund.
- The shop does not prepare a paid order within 7 days: the order is cancelled and refunded automatically.
- Problem with the order (not received, damaged, wrong item): tap Report a problem on the order before the money is released. The money stays held until Howsit support resolves it; where the shop is at fault you get a full refund.
- The shop is paid when you confirm you received the order, or 3 days after the shop marks it delivered if you have not reported a problem.
3. Marketplace orders (products shipped by courier)
- Cancel before the order is shipped: tap Report a problem on the order (or contact support) and ask to cancel; if it has not been shipped, you get a full refund.
- Returns: each product shows its return window before you buy — no returns, 3 days or 7 days from delivery. Within that window, tap Report a problem on the order to ask for a return; the payment stays held while it is sorted out. Once the seller receives the returned item in its original condition, you get a full refund of the item price; the delivery charge is also refunded if the item was damaged, defective or not as described.
- Damaged, defective, wrong or missing items can always be reported within the return window, or within 48 hours of delivery for products sold with no returns, with photos of the item and packaging.
- The seller is paid only after the return window has passed without a return request.
4. Howsit Pro
- Pro is paid for one month at a time and does not renew automatically; you can simply choose not to pay for the next month.
- If you were charged twice, or Pro could not be turned on, you get a full refund.
- Otherwise a month of Pro that has started is not refundable.
5. Business ERP plans
- New Medium and Large plans have a 14-day money-back guarantee: if the ERP does not suit your business, ask for a refund within 14 days of starting your first plan and you will get the full amount back.
- After that, a plan runs to the end of the period you paid for (6 months or a year) and is not refundable for the unused part. Plans do not renew by themselves: nothing is charged again unless you pay for a new period.
6. School plans (Students Corner)
- A school may cancel its school plan within 7 days of first registering for a full refund, as long as student records, attendance or marksheets have not yet been created.
- After that, the plan runs to the end of the period paid for.
7. School and class fees
Fees paid to a school, teacher or class through Howsit are refunded according to that school's or provider's own refund rules. Once the school approves a refund, Howsit sends it to the payer as described in section 1. Duplicate fee payments are refunded in full.
8. Ads and boosts
- Your ad budget is kept until it is spent.
- Rejected ads: the full budget comes back to your Howsit Wallet.
- Stopped ads: the unspent budget comes back to your Howsit Wallet. Budget already spent on views is not refundable.
9. HD group calls, live packs and other in-app services
- These are used as you go. Balance already used is not refundable.
- If a service you paid for could not be delivered because of a fault on Howsit's side, we credit the amount back to your Howsit Wallet (or to your original payment method if you ask).
10. Local Services
- Paid online in the booking: cancelled before the work starts (by you or the provider), you get the full amount back automatically to the same card, UPI or bank. If the provider does not do the work or does it badly, report it from the booking or through support within 48 hours; the payment is checked with the provider, and where the work was not done you get a full refund.
- Paid in cash in the booking (with the completion code): this is between you and the provider. Howsit cannot refund cash, but report any problem from the booking and we act on the provider's account; in case of fraud also at cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930.
- Paid outside a booking: between you and the provider; Howsit cannot refund it.
11. Tips and gifts
- Tips and gifts to creators are final once they reach them.
- Howsit does not send wallet money from one person to another. If you paid a person directly through your UPI app and it went wrong, contact them and your bank or UPI app first; in cases of fraud, report it at cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930, and tell us so we can act on the account.
12. Customers outside India
You can pay with international cards where Razorpay supports them; refunds go back to the same card. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may cancel a digital purchase within 14 days: for a service you asked to start straight away (such as Pro or an ERP plan), you get a refund for the part not yet used. Any other right your local consumer law gives you also applies.
13. How to ask for a cancellation or refund
- In the app: open the order and tap Cancel or Report a problem, or go to Settings → Help & Feedback → Contact Support.
- Or write to support@howsit.in (or call +91 73377 66156, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM IST) with your registered phone number, the order or payment number, and what went wrong.
We acknowledge every request within 48 hours and resolve it within one month, as required by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 — most within a few days. If you are not satisfied, contact our Grievance Officer. You may also approach the National Consumer Helpline (1915, consumerhelpline.gov.in) or a Consumer Commission.
